Instructions for setting up YubiKey with Okta


Setting Up YubiKey for ctcLink/Canvas Multi-factor Authentication


1. Select a YubiKey device based on your needs (for general use, USB-A compatibility is optimal).

2. Visit https://myaccount.ctclink.us/ and click on Password Settings:

 

3. Click on “Set up” next to “Security Key or Biometric Authenticator.”


4. Click “Set up.”



5. When prompted to “Touch your security key”, and with the YubiKey inserted into the computer’s USB port, briefly place your finger on your YubiKey’s metallic circle until the system confirms the Passkey has been saved.


6. The system will verify you want to set up the key with the browser you’re using. Click “OK.”


7. Click “OK” again to give the website permission to access your YubiKey. 


8. When prompted to “Touch your security key”, and with the YubiKey inserted into the computer’s USB port, briefly place your finger on your YubiKey’s metallic circle until the system confirms the Passkey has been saved.


 

9. You will see the following message if the process has been successful.


Using Your YubiKey to Log in to ctcLink or Canvas


 10. After typing your username and password, you will see the verification screen. Select the option “Verify with something else.”


11. Next to “Security Key or Biometric Authenticator,” click Select.


12. When prompted to sign in with your passkey, insert your YubiKey into the PC’s USB port. Select the “Security key” option, then click “Next.”


13. When prompted to “Touch your security key,” touch your finger to the metallic circle on the surface of the YubiKey until you are logged in.


Notes:

  • Keep your YubiKey safe! Don’t let anyone borrow or use it. Treat it just like you would the key to your office, car, or home.
  • Note that your key must be validated for each browser you use. For example, if you set up your key using Firefox, you would need to repeat the process to set it up for use with Chrome or Edge.
  • The key should work immediately for logging into ctcLink, but you may encounter difficulties using it to login to Canvas.
