Outlook - Email Attachment size limit
Overview
This guide explains how to manage email attachment size limits in Outlook and offers alternative methods for sharing larger files.
Outlook - Email Attachment Size Limit
Outlook allows you to receive email attachments up to 50MB. Attachments larger than this will not be received.
Compressing Files to Reduce Size
To share larger files, you can compress them into a .zip folder. Here's how:
- Right-click the file you want to compress.
- Select "Send to".
- Choose "Compressed (zipped) folder". A new compressed folder will appear in the same location as the original file.

Once compressed, the file size will be reduced.
Unzipping Files
Recipients will need to unzip or extract the files:
- Save the zipped file to your computer.
- Right-click the compressed folder.
- Select "Extract All...".
A new folder with the extracted files will be created in the same location.
