Summary

VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a secure method of remotely accessing CCS computer resources, while connected to VPN you can access network shares and other internal resources. The VPN encrypts all traffic to and from a computer in order to prevent others from viewing the information.

Description/Steps for Resolution

First contact the IT Support Center and tell them you need to use VPN, so you can be assigned proper security and permissions to use the service.  You may install AnyConnect onto your personal computer or your college laptop, if you travel with it. To install this software your college laptop, you will need to contact the Support Center to get the temporary rights to load the software. 

 

Step One: 

In your internet browser, browse to https://webvpn.ccs.spokane.edu 

 

Step Two:
Log in using your full CCS email address and password.

 





Step Three:
Select ANYCONNECT from the menu on the left side of the screen.

Step Four: 
Select AnyConnect and begin the download of the installation file 

Note: after the download completes, browse to your downloads and start the installation of the AnyConnect software  

 


Step Five: 

The Cisco AnyConnect software should be installed on your computer.  Open up Cisco AnyConnect  from your start menu. The first window will ask for our server information, enter Webvpn.ccs.spokane.edu see below:

Step Six: 

Log in with your CCS email address and password 

 



Your VPN connection status is listed in the lower right hand corner by your clock on your Windows PC.  Hover over the AnyConnect icon to see your current connection status: 



Right-click the VPN icon to disconnect.  If you shut down your laptop, that process will also terminate your VPN connection.
